The trumpet is a fairly unique instrument in comparison to many others and can be extremely difficult to grasp. The problem with this instrument is that fewer and fewer teachers now specialise in this. Basically, this is not their first choice of instrument. Obviously the learning capabilities of a student are limited to the quality of the teaching. If the tutor does not have specific experience with an instrument, it will become apparent almost instantly. Of course, bad habits are likely to be picked up, many of which will be extremely hard to kick in the long term.
Trumpet grinds tutors will have specific experience using this instrument and will have plenty of experience when it comes to dealing with a variety of students. Students at schools do not get attention devoted to them. Unfortunately, this tends to mean that the students that lag behind, will get left behind completely in the long run. In fact, it is at this point, that many students give up playing the instrument completely, even though it was a tiny stumbling block that was holding them back in the first place. Trumpet grinds could have been the answer, an answer that would easily of solved their problem.
The many processes and techniques related to playing the trumpet are what students tend to find hard to grasp. An in class tutor can usually explain many of these, but anything that is not understood is likely to be left, which means it will cause increasing problems for the student. This is certainly not the case with trumpet grinds, as students will not be able to move forward, until they are competent with everything they are trying to learn at present. Of course, the end result is a more relaxed experience, alongside much better grades as well.
