Recorder - Grinds Tutors Dublin
The recorder is known for being fairly easy to learn, although for those that have not played a musical instrument before, it might be harder than they first thought. The one thing to remember about this instrument is that it is a pathway to bigger things. Many of the great clarinet and saxophone players started their careers by playing the recorder, as it helped them to grasp the basics of music and then play more complex and rewarding instruments. Recorder grinds are a great way to become acquainted with the instrument.
Learning from books can seem like an incredibly good idea, especially as they can be purchased for so little. The problem with books is that they lack the physical presence of a teacher, unlike recorder grinds. When a school student has a problem as they read through a book, they have nobody to voice those problems to. This usually leads to the student picking up bad habits. Any recorder grinds tutor will know that bad habits are extremely hard to kick, which is why students should use recorder grinds to aid their progress on an on going basis.
There are many small things that make a big difference when it comes to playing this instrument. For example, holding it firmly with both hands, but allowing fingers to flow is important to ensure the transition between notes is smooth. On a similar note, each player should always be sitting or standing with a stiff upright posture, to ensure that they get the most out of their lungs. These are things that can not be expressed correctly through the simple visuals in books and are something that recorder grinds tutors will keep reminding the student of. Learning the recorder is so much easier when a student gets involved with grinds sessions which help to structure their learning.
